This Evening's Visitor: Randy Raccoon!

I was sitting on the bed watching TV when Gerta began to snarl and growl at the patio doors. I got up, turned the porch light on and opened the door. She went out like a shot, and quickly turned and came right back! When I looked out, this is what I saw. He is backed up against the back door. I went around and opened the inside door to see if he would leave. He didn't and the dogs are still upset that I won't let them out. This is the reason I don't have a doggy door, by the way. This fellow would be in the house in a minute. He has thoroughly checked both the back door and the patio door as if he would come in, given a chance.

  5. When I leave overnight, I leave the dog's food and water on the back porch. You reckon this fellow had figured that out? I wouldn't let the dogs outside because I didn't want a fight on the back porch. The little guy wasn't hurting anything and raccoons can really tear a dog up. He hung around for quite a while, looking in the patio doors and staring Klaus down. He moved very slowly. I don't know if he was hurt, or if he was moving that way to avoid triggering the "chase it!" instinct in the dog. He didn't look sick, but raccoon are one of the animals that frequently get rabies around here. He eventually waddled off the porch and went on his merry raccoon way.
